To create a Wunderkammer was to cast the world in your own light. It contained "things on holiday, randomly juxtaposed and displaced from any proper context...taken together, they compose a heteroclite order without heirarchy or degree, an order in which kings mingle with clowns". A defiance of category was crucial. (Shakespeare, N., Bruce Chatwin, The Harvill Press, London, 1999 p35)

In creating this piece we were transforming the stereotypes of menial household chores into an empowering celebration of the women who perform them. Drawing upon symbols associated with the female body we acknowledge and embrace cooking, cleaning and sewing as meaningful and potent domesetic arts practices for us as women today.
